STARTING YOUR BUSINESS
Just a few points about starting and, although many of you will know the following, it may be useful to recap:
1) If you don't have a website, look around online because at the moment you can start your own website for a nominal amount - £1 per month in some cases and have your own domain (name) and email free. There are a number of companies offering similar deals. However look at point (2) before you decide on a company to arrange your website etc.
2) If you're looking for a sales platform, also look around online because there are a number to choose from and you may want to arrange your website from the same company, although you don't have to do that.
3) If you've purchased our files and you have or are starting a website, you can copy our artwork (specifically artwork of the files which you have purchased) from our website to place on your own website if that's useful, and you can use our text with regard to our descriptions of those paintings but not text in regard to other matters.
4) As you'll know, Social Media can be an important sales tool and you can open a business account on Instagram, Facebook and other Social Media sites free.
5) Further you can open an account free with a choice of online companies which will accept payments on your behalf. For example, as you can see on our Payments Page, we use PayPal and Stripe.
6) Before you start selling, you'll decide whether you are initially going to sell directly to the public online or through markets, or whether you'll sell to others who will sell to the public. For example, you can sell directly to shops and/or market stallholders (there are over 1000 markets in the UK, including many arts and crafts markets, although many other markets are also likely to have customers who will be potential buyers of prints, posters, t-shirts etc.)
7) If you're selling t-shirts etc. online, Tradeprint, a printer we've used for a number of years (See Printing Page) will send your t-shirts', tote bags' etc. orders directly to your customer if you wish without informing the customer of the price you've paid and, we think you'll find, many other printers will do the same thing.
8) Please look at our 'PRINTING' Page and underneath that is a section on the inexpensive cellophane bags you might consider placing the prints in, and then a section on 'SELLING' which, we have mentioned above, but which provides further information which we hope you'll find useful.
